Little Tokyo, Los Angeles
We are so happy that so many of you have been able to attend and enjoy our events. Many of us at Akiba Day fell in love with anime, art, cosplay, conventions, and the culture of DTLA/Arts District/Little Tokyo by chance. We started Akiba Day with the goal that we wanted as many people as possible to share that feeling we all had that made us fall in love with these hobbies.
A Unique Breed
Anime & manga lies at the heart of Akiba Day and what our members are passionate about and about sharing with the rest of the Los Angeles community of anime and manga fans. Our goal is to keep up with the latest Anime and Manga news in order to share that news with our local community and to also give members and future members a platform to share their passion of anime and manga with the rest of the community whether it's slice of life, shoujo, shojen, cyberpunk, new, or old school.
A Service to the community
Community is the number one reason that Akiba Day was forged. We saw that there was a need for more local events focused on the vast community of anime, manga, and Japanese culture fans in and around the Los Angeles metropolitan area and a group of us decided to establish a place where we could all share our passion with the community as well as give the community a place and platform to share their passion for all things anime, manga, and Japanese culture as well.
Although we currently focus mainly on anime and manga, we also have a broader view of Japanese culture, especially one that relates closely to our name, which is Akiba, short for Akihabara, a district in Tokyo, Japan known to many as the otaku capital of the world. There are many aspects of otaku culture that many of our community members are passionate about such as cosplay, itasha, Japanese video games, figures, vocoloids, and Japanese music.
“Just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything you and your team did to make our event run so well. Everything turned out perfectly with a great cosplays, things running smoothly and the seamless transition between sessions as one set of staff went up the escalators and the other group came down the stairs. Our friends are very happy with how it went and we’ve had feedback from staff that this is the best Akiba Day they’ve been to. It’s definitely raised the bar, so now the pressures on to plan next year’s event!”
